The Context: A Massive, Complex Event with No Room for Busywork

ATxEnterprise 2024: Empowering Connections Through AI

GRIC is Japan’s top-tier startup conference – a full-blown ecosystem gathering, not just a startup showcase. It’s where global investors, founders, corporates, VCs, and policy makers collide to shape Japan’s startup future.

For Startups, Inc. – the team behind GRIC – isn’t new to this game. They are building a “Growth Industry Support Platform” centered on talent support for startups, offering a variety of services that assist startups and challengers. As part of this initiative, GRIC aims to become a global community and conference that serves as a bridge between Japanese startups and the rest of the world.

But running GRIC2024 was no small task. Over 11,000 people registered. More than 2,200 startups were involved. Across three days, dozens of sessions ran in-person and online. And yet, the team didn’t have a single in-house writer to help them capture or make sense of any of it.

The Problem: No Resources to Capture Insights from Offline Sessions

GRIC had a clear challenge. Their offline sessions – arguably the most strategic, high-stakes conversations – weren’t being recorded or documented. Budget constraints ruled out hiring a content team. So once a session wrapped, that insight? Gone.

The stakes were high. GRIC’s whole purpose is to boost collaboration between Japanese startups and the rest of the world. That can’t happen if the content disappears the moment it’s spoken.

They didn’t just need a note-taker. They needed something that could keep up with the speed, depth, and volume of discussions across the event – and turn it into something people could actually use after.

The Solution: Snapsight as the Strategic Content Engine

Enter Snapsight.

With almost no lead time, Gevme’s team integrated Snapsight into GRIC’s onsite workflow. The tool was able to transcribe offline sessions, summarize them, and generate strategic insights in real time – all without the need for a dedicated writer.

Snapsight handled Japanese audio natively, capturing insights as they were spoken, with nothing lost in translation or pace.

This wasn’t just a glorified transcript. GRIC used Snapsight’s cross-session analysis to surface shared themes, compare different viewpoints, and create reports that helped attendees discover sessions they’d missed. For a hybrid conference, that’s huge.

Our AI was fast and smart. It picked up on high-level takeaways, tied sessions together into broader themes, and made the experience more cohesive for both in-person and virtual attendees.

The Impact: Clarity, Access, and Strategic Value Without the Headcount

What stood out to the GRIC team wasn’t just the output. It was the time and mental space they saved.

Instead of scrambling to take notes or retroactively try to capture value from past sessions, Snapsight handled it all in the background. Organisers could stay focused on running the event. Attendees could focus on showing up and engaging – knowing they’d have summaries and insights waiting for them later.

The strategic report Snapsight delivered post-event became a core artifact, a real tool to carry forward insights and conversations from GRIC into follow-ups, partnerships, and next steps.

Why It Worked

Snapsight didn’t need fanfare. It worked quietly, but powerfully. It solved a real problem and did it well.

For a startup-driven event where time, budgets, and attention are all stretched thin, that’s the kind of tool that makes a difference. And for GRIC, it wasn’t just a tech add-on – it was an operational asset.

In the GRIC team’s words?

“Amazing technology. But not just that – a great team.”

What’s Next

GRIC isn’t slowing down. With 30,000+ total registrants across its events and a mission to open Japan’s startup scene to the world, the team’s always looking for sharper, smarter tools to support that growth.

Snapsight isn’t a one-time fix. It’s now part of how GRIC runs.

Because when your event’s mission is to drive meaningful connection, every conversation matters – and none of it should be lost.
